Original works made for you

Commissions

I take on a small number of commissions each year — typically no more than six or eight — so that each piece receives the time and attention it deserves. A commission is a genuine collaboration: I bring my own process and instincts, and you bring the subject, the feeling, or the place that matters to you.

Commissions have included landscapes of specific places, works responding to personal memories, and pieces made as gifts. Whatever the starting point, the work will be unmistakably mine — made through the same process of mindful observation and intuitive mark-making that drives all my painting.

How It Works

01

Initial Enquiry

Send me a message using the form below. Tell me a little about what you have in mind — the subject, the size, any particular feeling or place you want the work to evoke. There's no obligation at this stage.

02

Conversation

If the project feels like a good fit, we'll have a conversation — by email or phone — to explore the brief together. I'll share thoughts on approach, scale, and timescale.

03

Proposal & Deposit

I'll send a written proposal with a price and estimated completion date. A 50% deposit confirms the commission and secures your place in my schedule.

04

The Work

I'll keep you informed as the piece develops. You'll see progress images at key stages and have the opportunity to give feedback before the work is finished.

05

Delivery

On completion, the balance is due. The work is carefully packaged and delivered to you, with a certificate of authenticity and care notes.

Common Questions

How long does a commission take?

Most commissions take between 6 and 16 weeks from deposit to delivery, depending on size and complexity. I'll give you a clear timescale in the proposal.

Can I commission a specific place or subject?

Yes — many commissions begin with a particular place, memory, or feeling. I'll visit or work from photographs and sketches, always filtering the subject through my own process.

Do you paint portraits?

My work is landscape and environment-focused. I don't take portrait commissions, but I'm happy to incorporate figures as part of a landscape if that's meaningful to you.

What if I don't love the finished work?

I share progress images at key stages so there are no surprises. If something isn't working, we address it before the piece is finished. I want you to love what you receive.
